How do I take leave?

  • Inform the Liaison Officer (LO) of your plans and contact information. Complete a standard leave form using the LEAVEWEB system accessible at the detachment about 10 days before your leave starts.
  • The Detachment CC will electronically sign the leave form.  E-mail a pdf copy of the part II back to you.
  • The next duty day after returning from leave, go to the AFROTC Detachment to complete the part III and sign in using the LEAVEWEB.

How do I get a 3 day pass?

  • Contact your LO in advance. Read the AFIT Instruction regarding the leave/pass policies.
  • Let your LO know when you plan to leave, when you plan to return and the phone number where you can be reached. Your LO will "approve" your pass, and then pass it onto the Detachment CC for final approval.
  • If approved by the Detachment CC, your LO will be notified and will keep a log of all passes.
  • When you return, contact your LO to close out the pass.

How do I go TDY?

  • Contact your Program Manager at AFIT well in advance (six weeks if possible) to start arrangements.
  • Your PM will want to know your itinerary and any non-federal sources of funding.
  • Your PM will get legal approval for non-federal funding and prepare TDY orders.
  • Take your trip.
  • Follow your PM's directions on preparing a travel voucher. There are a couple of alternatives.
  • If you file a travel voucher, send it to Scott AFB. The AFROTC detachment can help you.
  • If you receive non-federal reimbursement, you'll likely have to sign the check over to AFIT.

How do I get medical care?

  • If you have an emergency, go to the nearest emergency room for treatment or call 911.
  • As a University of Illinois student, you can use the McKinley Health Center as the first step in routine care.
  • For other routine care, you will be covered by TRICARE PRIME REMOTE. You will need to enroll your family members in this program. Once you are in the area, you will need to choose a primary care manager, who will be your primary POC for medical issues while stationed here. If you have any questions, contact the AFROTC detachment for assistance.
